Our speakers will be –

Rebecca Collins, Corporate Initiatives Manager for Sustainability:  SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority)

Ms. Collins develops programs that integrate sustainable best practices into SEPTA’s infrastructure and operations.  Ms. Collins’ is currently executing SEPTA’s second-generation Energy Action Plan as part of SEPTA’s commitment to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions. 


Over the last several month Rebecca has been coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to plan for the enormous task of transitioning SEPTA’s bus fleet from hybrid-electric to battery electric buses. Rebecca’s presentation will focus on how SEPTA is preparing for the possible transition to low and no-carbon bus fleets.


In addition to her role at SEPTA, Ms. Collins serves as a panelist on two Transit Research Board task forces and is a committee member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Sustainability Commitment Subcommittee and Sustainability Metrics Working Group. A native of Bucks County and resident of Philadelphia, Ms. Collins holds a Masters Degree in Urban Environmental Systems Management from Pratt Institute, a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Syracuse University and is a LEED O+M professional.

Michael Wiley, Sr. Economic Development Specialist: PECO (

Michael joined the US Navy after graduating high school and served six years as a nuclear power plant mechanic on submarines.  After the Navy Michael went on to earn his B.S. from Drexel University in Engineering focusing on nuclear technologies.  He joined Exelon in 2007 as a project manager in electric generation power plants, and in 2010 he transitioned to the electric distribution side of the business and became a supervisor in operations.  He earned his M.S. in Global Energy Management from the University of Colorado where he studied past, present and future energy technologies and their impact on global energy markets.  Michael is currently a Sr. Economic Development Specialist at PECO and engages external stakeholders on special projects involving new technologies and concepts relating to a dynamic energy industry and the PECO business model.  He is currently working on a program with a local transit agency in helping identify challenges and opportunities associated with electrifying fleet vehicles at scale.  In his off-time he and his wife enjoy hiking, skiing, kayaking and other various outdoor activities and they reside in Philadelphia.
