Our speakers will be –


Joseph P. Ungaro, PE, CEM; Senior Project Manager, Villanova University

Mr. Ungaro serves as a Senior Project Manager and the Energy Manager in Villanova University’s Facilities Management Office, in the Department of Engineering and Construction. Joe was the University’s lead on the Distributed Generation/CHP Project, working with Laurel Capital Partners, AUXS, and Concord Engineering from feasibility through start-up and continues to work with the Project Team in optimizing system operation to maximize savings to the University.

A native of Philadelphia and a resident of Montgomery County PA, Mr. Ungaro holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Drexel University, is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and State of New Jersey, and is an AEE Certified Energy Manager®.


Joseph T. Sullivan; Vice President, Energy Policy and Development, Concord Engineering

Mr. Sullivan has forty one years of progressive supervisory, management, and executive experience in the energy sector including construction management, planning, contract administration and negotiation, financing, financial management, facilities management, design, engineering and technical supervision, building commissioning, energy and environmental policy, legislation and regulation. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects including State energy policy, legislation, building and facilities construction, hazardous waste clean-up, air pollution control, district heating and cooling, nuclear and fossil power, on and off site water, sewer, natural gas, and electric utilities.


Matt Nyquist, PE; Project Manager, Concord Engineering

Mr. Nyquist is a project manager at Concord Engineering.  His involvement with CHP and Distributed Generation projects has ranged from development and design to construction and startup.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.  Matt was the lead Mechanical Engineer for the Villanova Distributed Generation/CHP Project.


Chris Sylvia, MBA, CMVP; Vice President of Construction, Concord Engineering

Mr. Sylvia serves as the Senior Construction Manager for Design Build Energy Infrastructure Projects ranging from Distributed Generation, Electrical Substations and building energy efficiency projects. As a Senior Construction Manager, Chris’s involvement starts during the conceptual design process to ensure constructability concepts are defined early for accurate estimating. As the project moves through the design process, Chris focuses on the long lead time equipment purchases to minimize the overall project cycle while ensuring the equipment purchased meets the needs of the project as well as the utility requirements. Once construction starts, Chris oversees the entire project including the engineering support staff and the field staff that is onsite for the duration of the project including the commissioning/turnover process.

For the Villanova Distributed Generation/CHP Project, Chris took over as the Senior Construction Manager once the project was ready for groundbreaking. Chris was directly involved for the duration of the project ensuring proper coordination with the University, the Equipment Manufacturers’ and the Sub-Contractors to deliver a safe, successful project.
