Emergency Preparedness

Are you prepared for the next big Storm?

Hurricane Sandy was one of the deadliest and most destructive hurricanes in United States history.  The storm caused an estimated $68B worth of damage and caused over 8.5 million power outages across 21 states.

Such storms are a rare event; however, smaller more frequent storms can also create much damage and interrupt operations.  We cannot control the weather but we can control how we prepare.  Being prepared can reduce the number of injuries and limit damages, allowing companies to weather the storm and return to normal operations more quickly.  Please, join us and our panel of experts as we discuss how utilities and customers prepare for and manage large storm events.

Bill Kelbaugh, Manager of Emergency Preparedness for PECO, will provide insights into how PECO plans for large storms and mobilizes restoration crews.  He will also review PECO’s restoration strategy.

Ed Sampey, Associate Director of Operations, will review Merck’s emergency preparedness plan.  He will discuss how Merck operates both before and during emergency events.

Kevin McCarthy, Director of Facility Systems & Operations for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will discuss how the hospital prepares and what they do during an event.
