Thank you for your interest in this meeting.  Due to overwhelming response, this meeting is sold out.  In working with the meeting site host, we needed to put a cap on the number of attendees that could be accommodated. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

PJM Interconnection, founded in 1927, ensures the reliability of the high-voltage electric power system serving 54 million people in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. PJM coordinates and directs the operation of the region’s transmission grid, which includes 6,038 substations and 56,500 miles of transmission lines; administers a competitive wholesale electricity market; and plans regional transmission expansion improvements to maintain grid reliability and relieve congestion.

PJM will provide a discussion of its operations and planning of the bulk power system in thirteen states and the District of Columbia, along with operating the world’s largest wholesale electricity market.  Additionally PJM will discuss the polar vortex of January 2014, PJM’s recent FERC filing on Capacity Performance, and will provide an update on Demand Response in light of recent court decisions.  A ‘virtual tour’ of PJM’s Control Center will also be provided.

PJM will need the attendance list a week in advance and everyone who comes to PJM for the AEE meeting will need to bring a valid state or federal ID.  Therefore, registration for this meeting will close on January 15th at 4:00pm.  Please be sure to register before the deadline if you would like to attend the PJM tour.  Walk up registration will NOT be available. 




Michael E. Bryson, Executive Director of System Operations

Michael E. Bryson, executive director of System Operations, is responsible for PJM’s 24x7 transmission operations for real time Systems and Markets to include scheduling, transmission dispatch, and generation dispatch, reliability coordination, and training as well as the engineering analysis required to run the system.

Mr. Bryson also held the position of general manager of the Dispatch Operations, responsible for PJM’s 24x7 transmission operations for real time Operations and Markets to include scheduling, transmission dispatch, and generation dispatch as well as manager of the Transmission Department for the System Operations Division, responsible for PJM’s transmission operations support for real time Operations and Markets to include transaction scheduling, transmission analysis, and regional and seasonal studies. He started at PJM as the manager of the Networks and Platforms Department for the Information Services Division. In that role he was responsible for EMS Networking, Network Management, AIX Support, Backups and Support, and Media and Voice Networking.

Stephen Boyle Director, State Government Affairs at PJM Interconnection

Mr. Boyle represents PJM with Pennsylvania and New Jersey by interacting with the governors’ administrations, utility commissions and general assemblies in both states regarding the many complex issues impacting electric reliability and the grid, and wholesale electricity markets. He also is responsible for coordinating PJM’s participation in the National Governors Association, Democratic Governors Association and the Republican Governors Association. Prior to joining PJM, Mr. Boyle worked at Trigen Philadelphia Energy Corp. where he managed the Sales and Marketing Department. He was responsible for annual steam revenue of $100 million from over 300 customers. In this position he held Association of Energy Engineers certifications as: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP).
