Temple University recently completed a Campus Utility Master Plan to assess the condition, capacity and efficiency of the Main and Health Sciences Campuses’ central utility plants and distribution systems. At the same time, an Energy Savings Strategy for achieving a 25% energy savings in 2 years was formulated based on an energy audit and condition assessment of the existing buildings conducted by RMF Engineering.

Two years after the initial report, RMF project manager Andy Jones and Temple University Director of Utilities Kurt Bresser will describe how they successfully managed the challenge of conducting such an extensive study on a limited budget and will share their insight on lessons learned as Temple continues to implement and revise the utility plans and energy saving strategies.

Following the presentation groups will be taken on short tours of Temple’s most efficient central chilled water plant, the main campus central steam plant and the standby electric generating facility.
